Our Final Day and a Half

Well it was time to say farewell to Montalcino. We packed the suitcases by 9.45am and drove down to Rome Airport (Fiumicino) to return the car. We had booked a one night stay in Fiumicino at the Hotel Seccy.

After dropping off the car we took a taxi to the hotel about 7 minutes away. Very convenient for a one night layover, as we were leaving the next morning at around 11.45am.

The area is a little seedy in Fiumicino, could do with a good clean up. The hotel was fine though, one block away from the harbour front with an array of seafood restaurants, after 7 nights or so with meat with everything in Umbria and Tuscany we were craving for some good seafood, and we were not dissapointed.

We strolled the area on the harbour front, then came back for dinner later that evening. No pictures of the meal as I left my memory card in my laptop before I left the hotel grrrrrrrrrrrr. However some pics to follow.

Hotel Seccy

The restaurant closed the next morning when we passed. Does not seem much to look at, but the seafood was spectacular. When we went it was filling up all the time with locals no English spoken, but pointing and gesturing got us what we wanted and then some.

Trattoria La Marina.

I can understand why the seafood was so good and so fresh, next door to the restaurant was a small fish market with an abundance of fresh seafood.

Some general shots of the harbour area in Fiumicino.
